Snark-Girl somehow managed to smack the back of her right hand on Friday, either at school or later that evening. Doesn't know against what, or even remember doing it. However, by Sunday, she'd developed a swollen, bruised area around the two center knuckles of her hand that was larger than a 50-cent piece - more like a small silver-dollar pancake.
Several people have commented on it, and it was becoming tender to the touch, as well as the alarming colors the bruise was revealing. Cue last night, when she asks me if I can call the doctors office in the morning, and could she stay home from school to make the appointment? Um, nope. Head off to school - I'll call when the office opens!
8 am - call made; appointment scheduled for well after her school lets out. Now, do I drive her, meaning I have to leave work early, or get my mother, her grandmother, to step in? Fortunately, the appointment is late enough that it doesn't conflict with an appointment she's going to with/for my dad, and she'll handle it. Yay, I don't need to leave work early.
Later this afternoon - Snark-Girl has seen the doctor; she's being sent off for an x-ray. Now let me mention, she's right-handed, and we're coming into the end of the school year, with all the requisite exams and writing involved.
And I'm still waiting to hear what the doctor has to say about the x-ray and if she's going to have her hand casted, or not. Please let this be nothing more than a major bruise, with instructions to ice it, or maybe a bad strain/sprain that can be wrapped so she can still, maybe, write!
Updated to Add: Final report is there's nothing broken. She's to apply warm compresses to it, and try to use it as little as possible for the next week to let it rest and heal. School should be interesting. Hopefully there aren't any tests she's slated to take!
